SnapTube Video is an Android app that makes it easy to watch and download videos on YouTube as well as a host of other websites.

The primary goal of SnapTube is to help you download videos from YouTube so that you can watch them offline and at your convenience without using additional bandwidth. The app is quite good at this, and it also has tools to help you discover videos. You can search YouTube directly and filter results by views and weekly downloads. You can also view videos that are popular or new in a particular category.

You also have to be able to watch videos. How else would you know what to download? SnapTube is quite good at this as well. Although perhaps not as refined as the official YouTube app, it gets the job done. SnapTube can also support a range of other sites that host videos. Advanced users can have a single search point for all of their favorite video hotspots online.

SnapTube Video is a very lightweight app. It has a small footprint and doesn’t take up many resources as it runs. It also only requires Android 2.1. The developers had a goal in mind with SnapTube, achieved it and then left the app alone for all of us to enjoy it.

That means that SnapTube isn’t supported in an official capacity. A search of the Web to learn more about the program and the development team brings up little more than a catalog of mirrors. Perhaps that’s not a bad thing. If the app works, it works, but if you need technical support, have a suggestion or bug report, or just want to mesh with the greater SnapTube community, you won’t be able to.
